Excellent welcome at the Buzet base

12-la-baise-a-barbastePassing through Buzet-sur-Baise, we berthed at the dock of the Aquitaine Navigation base on 30 and 31 May. We were aboard a boat from a sister rental company (but a competitor nonetheless) and were given a really nice and kind welcome.

The mechanic from the base was very happy to help us berth, and showed us around your boats, explaining everything in great detail and with all the time in the world for us.

We really appreciated his attitude and wanted to let you know.

Discover Brittany…

Last week I visited Brittany, one of the 6 Celtic nations, a wonderful
region of legends and myths

and… fell in love!

Brittany is a land of

Chateaux, Manoir,

Ancient villages of timber framed, stone houses,

Calvary sculptures…

Lush green fields, forests,

valleys, winding rivers and peaceful canals…

Pink Granite rocks on the coast line and beautiful sandy beaches…

fascinating Menhir from the coast to inland Brittany.

Over 4000 of these megalythique monuments can be seen in the region

bearing witness to a bygone civilization.

Explore ancient churches with their low steeples,

beautiful stained glass, Low arched doorways..

And wonderfully cool floors due to the water flowing beneath

A haven from the sun in summer.

See the traditional dress including the Bigodine, the magnificient
hats reaching up toward heaven, worn by Breton women to declare their
spiritual aspirations.

Not to be missed, the Fez Nos are a great opportunity to mix with the
locals.

Traditional music and dancing fill the village and market squares
throughout the summer.

Why not finish the day with a Breton pancake made with traditional
black flour with a cup of locally produced cider or Sea-food galore?

Go on, Be Breizh! You won’t regret it…

Nature cruise from Lübz to Waren – Plau am See > Müritzsee – Germany

We set off aboard two boats, the Nicols N1150 Sedan and the N1170 Sedan for a one-week return cruise from the Lübz base in Mecklenburg. Easy boating through the lakes of Plau, Fleesensee, Kölpinsee, Müritzsee then Jabelsee. It’s a region perfect for discovering nature, peace and quiet, and serenity! A few minor obligations do need to be complied with when you don’t have an «  »internal waterways » » licence but the instruction given during the initiation session is really comprehensive and the Lübz team is on-hand to help at all times. A wonderful holiday spent with friends in a part of Germany where nature is still untamed and unspoilt.

In 2012

I would like to sail on a houseboat.

I am dreaming about living on a houseboat somewhere, but as a first step I would like to try a holiday on board.
I am Italian, single, aged 47, so i would like to join a group who would like to try the same experience. Any country and destination in Europe will do.

Week-end on the Canal du Midi

Having set off on a Nicols Sixto on friday late afternoon with my husband, inlaws, and my two children, we gently cruised up to Ventenac for some wine tasting before our evening meal on the boat. Fabulous weather in September, and our dog Spotty, enjoyed the view of ducks and geese…Saturday we went through 3 locks before a lovely lunch at « Le Baron d’Ar » just by the écluse d’Ognon. We then set off again on full stomachs, through three more locks to Puichéric for the night. Return back the next day, picnicking by the boat for lunch and fishing for the kids,to our point of departure at the Somail. Being novices, we got the hang of the locks after the first one, having moored up to watch other boats have a go before us. Other tourists were very heplful and the lock-keepers were on the whole pleasant too. Fabulous memories of this two day trip, and looking forward to our next one, longer , no doubt. The Sixto boat is very well equiped and spacious, with a great terace, and lots of room for the children to run about. Happy times…
